Meet Will & Caroline Jardine ..
Nimmitabel Bakery was first established over 60 years ago by George Van Zanden in a much smaller building that is here today. He successfully operated the business for a number of years when it was taken over by Mrs Adams. She continued to operate the business successfully and then handed the reigns to her son Chris Adams and his wife Kim. They extended the bakery to the size it is now and established a great reputation for the business.
In May 2010 Will and Caroline Jardine took over the business. Will’s family have lived in Nimmitabel since 1845, so after a number of years in Sydney the pull to return to Nimmitabel was growing stronger. He brought his new bride Caroline back to Nimmitabel and they bought the bakery. Having only business experience but no bakery experience it was a huge challenge in the beginning, but having a strong supportive team along the way has made it possible to expand and grow the business to what it is today. Caroline has also trained and become a qualified pastry chef in this time.
In the years since they took over the bakery has undergone a number of facelifts creating a warm modern country kitchen feel that customers just can’t go past without stopping.
“This is a long term project for us and we have plenty more dreams and ideas that we want to implement in the bakery so we hope to continually grow and evolve as the market does and we hope that we continue to be the favorite stopping place between Canberra and the South Coast."
.
"We're both from the country originally and after years in the city we've come back to bring up our little family in Nimmitabel. We love our life, our community and our bakery - we hope you like it too."
